In August 2022—four months before his 17th birthday—M.L. was involved in a fight with another student at Elkhart High School. M.L. ultimately admitted to engaging in conduct that would equate to battery, a Class B misdemeanor, if committed by an adult. The juvenile court adjudicated M.L. a delinquent and placed him on “Probation Supervision” in January 2023. App. Vol. II, p. 43.
