You think about, again, that young Jake making 14 calls to get in Lehman Brothers to employing number 16 at Morgan Stanley, right at asset management, right? Before he got 10,000 plus employees, you were employing number 186 at Morgan Stanley right now at asset management division. Jake, describe your word in your career and just one word, just one word. Blast. Blast. Why Blast? Because look, at the end of the day, when you start your life where I started my life, when I think about where my parents started their life, right, when you think about it. So there's so many kids who don't succeed because they were born to the wrong family. They grew up in the wrong zip code. They went to the wrong school or there were influences that got in the way. They turned left instead of turning right. The number of minds that I could have stepped on, the number of times I could have said, the odds are against me. I'm not going to pursue this path. I'm going to take the easy route. The number of times that I could have turned left instead of turning right, it can't be before the grace of God that I was able to get to where I am today. And so when I say blessed, that's to me what it means because you're also going through really difficult times to get from, you know, ashy knee, little boy in Hudson, New York to managing director on Wall Street. And the only way you get there is to truly believe that greater is he who was in you than he was in the world, right? So, I very much believe that it's about blessings. Yeah. Let's check, what's your biggest failure? What would you learn from it? So when I was raising capital for Blueprint, someone asked me that and I'll tell you, it was Bill Lewis, a man who recruited me to Morgan Stanley who would watch my career for a really long time. He's now a Apollo, a friend and he asked me that question and I couldn't answer it. I could not answer it and he just kept pressing me and I wouldn't answer it because I don't view life as being a series of successes and failures, right? You have experiences, some of which are lessons that you've learned. Now if you had a negative experience and you did not do a post-mortem and you did not process what happened and you did not figure out how you were accountable for what happened or kind of something you could have seen that you didn't see or something happened because of a lack of focus. Yeah, then maybe you can say you made mistakes or whatever, but I've never run my career like that. So I look at everything that's happened to me as a lesson that I've learned and when I file that lesson away, I truly believe that when I wake up the next day, I'm a better person because I've got that lesson behind me. People that also helps you and it probably being still a lot of lessons in you that you have learned. When I mention these names, just say one word and I'll start with Bernard Bill. It could be slavery. It could be Jim Crow. It could be reconstruction. It could be the 60s. You name it. It could be Tulsa massacre. After those periods, we go on to survive, thrive, and excel. And then ultimately, they're met with backlash. And then that sets the stage for us thriving, surviving, thriving, and leveling up again
