Spring-like pattern settling in [0:00-3:48]

Well, I want to start with a check on today's high temperatures nearing records in Fort Myers, as well as Naples. Those high temperatures climbed into the upper 80s across the board for Punta Gorda, still several degrees off of that record of 91. But for Naples, we were within one degree for Fort Myers. We had a high of 88 degrees on this March 2nd. And as we take you through the next seven afternoons, we are expecting those high temperatures to be running well above normal in the upper 80s as we take you into the weekend. And for some days and some locations, we will be flirting with those record highs. Well, now that we're starting to transition into a bit of a spring-like pattern, at least for this week, that will set us up for the opportunity for those afternoon downpours. Exactly what we're seeing right now, that much-needed rain. Let's take you live outside of our studios. And speaking of the rain, we do have some of those light moderate rain showers ongoing here across the Cape. The good news is that we haven't seen much in the way of lightning. So generally, it's a more of a stable weather setup. The cumulus clouds aren't growing very high vertically. Nonetheless, we're still seeing enough of that moisture to help create these spotty rain showers out there. So we have some of those showers across parts of Sarasota County, Lee as well as Collier. So we're going to start our radar tour from the north and work our way toward the south. So first here, heading into warm mineral springs, you have another little rain shower heading your direction again from the northeast coming in from the southwest, northeast toward the southwest from warm mineral springs, pushing back through Venice as well as South Venice, Englewood, expecting some of those light-to-moderate rain showers as well. And then across the Cape, it has been fairly consistent this evening, especially south of Pine Island Road. So for Central as well as South Cape, that's where we have the concentration of those moderate downpours right now. So judging back through Matt Lesche as well as Pine Island and Moquillia, interestingly enough, the northern tier of Moquillia, we haven't seen much in the way of wet weather, but you do have this other little rain shower right here near Burtstorm Arena, and that is going to be kind of drifting off your direction, likewise some of those showers, making their way toward Captiva as well as North Captiva tonight. Then the shower here over Collier County now starting to wind down. Vanderbilt Beach, North Naples, we're now drying out Naples, you just have a couple of lingering sprinkles at this point. But back through Everglades and Deport of the Islands is where we do still have more of that consistent light-to-moderate rain falling. Unfortunately, it is to the west of state route 29. The national fire right now is burning in this vicinity, so not seeing much in the way of wet weather there today. But thankfully, we did see so much need to rain their last evening accumulating right around a half an inch. And as we've been talking about, every drop matters at this point, considering just how dry the conditions are. From Everglades City down to Chocoloski, this rain will continue to work its way from the northeast toward the southwest. So here are those weather headlines as we transition into the spring-like pattern. We'll continue to stay very warm with those high temperatures in the mid to upper eighties. And again, that will feature the chance for those afternoon and evening storms expected each day. So taking you through this evening, most of the activity on radar will be winding down around nine o'clock or so. And then as we kick off tomorrow morning, mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies are forecast, easterly winds will prevail, similar to today 10 to 15 miles per hour. So we'll be dry until about 2 to 3 pm. And then we'll start to see some of those isolated showers develop. But for tomorrow, I'm only expecting about a 20 percent chance, better opportunity though forecast for your Wednesday afternoon as when the stronger easterly winds will be driving in more of that Atlantic moisture. So for tomorrow, we'll wake up to lows in the mid-60s, mostly sunny skies. 20 percent rain chance tomorrow with those high temperatures staying in those mid to upper eighties. We'll continue to see the upper eighties as we take you through that seven day forecast looking ahead to the weekend. How does 88 degrees sound for your Sunday with mostly sunny skies?
