GOP leaders move to end Homeland Security shutdown | FOX 5 AT 6AM [1:01-4:34]
All right, one day closer to the weekend, one day closer to opening day for the Nats. Great weather on the horizon, just maybe not today, but appreciate you being with us here on Fox 5 and streaming on Fox 5. You're getting one day closer. That's all that matters. Good morning, sucker at any man. Good morning, and we're both very excited because we're going to be down there for opening day. I know, looking forward to it. Peru, Tucker and I are going down the cover opening day. Are the two of you guys doing batting practice against each other? I hope so. I don't know. I don't know where she's going to do anything. Hey, this is a guarantee. I got five on an email. I've been down there for years and years. Let me do less and less every year. Okay, good morning. We're going to try to clear it out. I don't think we're going to be very successful. It'll be a mostly cloudy day. And daytime highs are going to be much, much cooler mid to upper 80s. Yesterday, low to mid 60s today. We're currently in the low 60s. We're going to be parked here later this afternoon with a mostly cloudy day. But it should be a dry afternoon. I'll have more in just a minute, anyway. All right. We'll see how much they let us do, Marissa. We'll take a look here. Thursday morning. But it looks like overview wise closer look right now. Metro. This is Thursday morning. I'd like to ask you. How is that in your case? For a public. Community for a red line train signal tracking. Between Van Nec and Dupont Circle due to track problems outside of Dupont Circle. So some trains will offload at Farragut North to help minimize traffic. Iran's Navy is gone. There are forces in ruins. There are leaders. Most of them. Terrorists. Regime. They led are now dead. As president Trump last night, delivering his first prime time speech since the U.S. Trump last night delivering his first prime time speech since the US and Israel bombed Iran now more than a month ago. The president telling the American people he expects the war to come to an end soon and trying to calm worries. He also directly addressed the gas prices and Fox five seven are Mirage's live this morning in Boston with reaction, Steph Good morning. Good morning and this was a nearly 20 minute address from the White House. The president doubling down on the conflict the US getting involved saying that it was a major success for touting it as one. And this is as he faces more political backlash back at home. But he did double down on his comments the president mentioning in his address the need to stop by around from having a nuclear weapon saying that if that they were rapidly rebuilding a stockpiled missiles and would soon have one that could reach your end of the US despite conflicting reports. He affirmed most of Iran's terrorist regime is dead in the speech that the US is on track to complete its objectives with plans to hit the country very hard over the next two to three weeks. The president also largely blamed Iran for their actions at the Strait of Corn Mous for the reason that we have seen a rising gas prices at home which recently hit an over $4 gallon average for the first time since 2022. The president repeated his calls for other countries to take action at the Strait themselves or buy US oil also calling the rise of gas prices temporary. We're gonna have different reaction all this morning but I want to start right now with reaction from a GW University professor who specializes in the Middle East studies. He spoke with our Sydney person last night and here's his reaction. It was the summary of all the things that he had already said on his truth social that if Iran does not back down there's gonna be more attack. I didn't get a sense that he is actually sending troops ground troops to Iran. He didn't mention it which was quite interesting maybe intentionally avoided but I also think that it sounded like he wants that he wanted to reassure the American public that this is gonna stop soon.
