'NOT A GOOD SITUATION': Chang warns of MASSIVE US disadvantage in strait [5:03-8:21]
Yes. And that's actually where I think the risk of war is highest because we're seeing extremely belligerent Chinese activity in the last couple of weeks against the Philippines at places like Scarborough, Shawl, and T2 Island. These incidents can blow up into a conflict. And we have a mutual defense treaty with the Philippines. So far, the Chinese think that they can push the Filipinos around. Those are pushing back. This is a volatile situation. And now the States needs to start paying attention to it. OK. And meanwhile, we've been talking about birthright citizenship this morning. The president attended the Supreme Court's oral arguments yesterday on birthright citizenship. The first time a sitting president has done so. The near post writes this. China has exploited the liberal interpretation of birthright citizenship to maximum advantage. Back in December, the Wall Street Journal reported that nearly 41 percent of international surrogate parents are Chinese. And one Chinese billionaire, one individual, potentially has 100 U.S. born children through surrogacy. This is just an incredible story, the way China has exploited America's policies. And I spoke with Peter Schweitzer about it back in January. He told me all about it. Watch this. China has a very sophisticated program of exploiting birthright citizenship. And the Supreme Court is going to be hearing this case. Our federal government has no idea. No idea how many children are being minted as U.S. citizens using this technique. But China has looked into it. China has encouraged this. They've pushed it. The Chinese government believes that every year for the past 13 years, Maria, roughly 100,000 Chinese babies have been born in the United States that are taken back to China, raised in China. When they turn 18, they're going to be U.S. citizens. They can vote in elections, donate to political campaigns, get government jobs. That's more than a million voters. Remember that 2016 election was settled by 80,000 votes. So it's a massive exploitation of our immigration laws. Other entities like the Muslim Brotherhood and the Mexican government are doing the same sort of thing. Gordon, this is such a national security issue. I mean, think about that, that these Chinese people can come here, have babies, take the baby back to China, raise the child in China. And then they can do whatever they want. They can come back. They can go work in the military. They could, like you just said, vote. I mean, your reaction. Well, first of all, Peter Schweitzer is a hero. But we've got to remember that the Chinese are exploiting something that Congress permitted. We have a visa waiver program in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana's, a compact state of the United States. This was, you know, Congress has had so many opportunities to close this, and hasn't. So Maria, this is on us. We know what's going on, and Congress has absolutely refused to close the visa waiver program. We could do that immediately. So yeah, the Chinese are taking advantage of this, but it's, we've created that advantage and have absolutely refused to do anything about it. Unbelievable. Well, we'll keep watching this one. Gordon, great to see you. Thanks so much. Gordon Chiang.
