Antonis Christodoulou Takes on Pete Aguilar | Full Interview [15:06-17:15]
The biggest thing is, I currently live in Rancho, you drive around all the new properties, luxury housing. Look on the websites, it's luxury. You look on any type of new housing, it's always about luxury housing and we need housing that is affordable so people don't get priced out of the market. So people can live and also be around communities of people that they wouldn't be around normally. If we bring down the cost of housing, you'll have people who are managers, janitors, teachers, maybe even CEOs too, all together just in an area if they just want to live and they'll see people as more humans and they'd see people for what they really are and that is a community, beautiful people that we have in this country. So in addition to that, I think we also need to make sure that our universities are making sure that students are taking care of, students who are unhoused, students who can't afford to live, who are just paying rent and trying to survive off from whatever extra amount they get from the student loans. I think that is also something we should do and making sure that the federal government is providing money for these unhoused, for homeless shelters, for cheaper shelters because currently what P. Aguilar last did in Redlands was he provided some federal dollars along with the state to then build homeless shelter, to convert motels into homeless shelters. But that was a very bad situation because a corporate group that they ended up giving money to call, I think, Shangri-La was then found to be a scam. The owners of it didn't renovate, they didn't do anything, they pocketed the money. That was a group that was just trying to make money off of this. If the federal government and the states work together to convert that motel in their own and then maintain the facility, then we'd have check and balance that would go over broad of what we need and maybe those units would have been open a lot faster, maybe those units would have been a lot better, maybe we would have been able to escape the costly situation of then having to find a different corporate group to handle this situation, then paying them our tax dollars. So that is how I would view them. How's that?
