On November 17, 2017, the State charged Cozine with several criminal
offenses. A status conference was scheduled for October 3, 2018, and a jury
trial was scheduled for November 13, 2018. Cozine personally attended the
October 3 status conference, but his public defender did not attend the hearing,
possibly due to a vacation. At the October 3 hearing, the court rescheduled the
jury trial.
