Intoxicated and irate over his missing keys, McCarter threatened: “I’m going to burn this mother**** down if don’t nobody give me my keys.” (Tr. Vol. II, pg. 83.) McCarter then used a rag to set a fire at one exterior corner of the building; some of those present extinguished the fire by stomping on it.
