She had been diagnosed with schizophrenia when she was age thirty-three. However, K.S.’s struggles with her mental health began when she was twelve years old when she was diagnosed with depression and prescribed medication after her mother had passed away. At age sixteen, K.S. became a patient of Diagnostic Medicine of Carmel (“Diagnostic”), an outpatient provider.
