Justice Slaughter dissents In 2022, the State filed a delinquency petition in which it alleged that G.W., then seventeen years old, had committed acts that would be theft and criminal trespass if committed as an adult and that he had left home without permission from a parent or guardian. App. Vol. 2, p. 34. When G.W. allegedly committed further acts that amounted to theft and criminal trespass if committed as an adult, the State amended its petition to add those allegations. Id. at 41, 53.
