Talkin' Politics | June 12, 2023: "I'm So Indicted..." Missouri GOP model being [0:00-5:00]

This week on the Heartland Pod for Monday, June 12, 2023, Missouri's GOP being copied at the national level. Oklahoma is paying for religious education directly. The Biden administration celebrates pride. Ken Paxton's getting impeached. Wesley Bell joins Lucas Coons in the primary to go after Josh Hawley. And Donald Trump, if you haven't heard, has been indicted. Lots to do, so let's go. Welcome back to the Heartland Pod. My name is Adam Summer, and I am your host. This is the regular Monday show, our talk and politics show with myself. And my co-host Rachel Parker and Sean Diller, who will both join us in just a moment, together we bring big topics in the week with a special focus on the Heartland as we bring our middle out approach to politics and work to change the conversation. Such all of our shows, five days a week, including Dirt Road Democrat hosted by Jess Piper on Thursdays, and our weekly round-up show The Fly Overview with Kevin Smith every Friday for a 15-minute weekly catch-up. Support what we do by leaving a five-star rating and a review wherever you listen to the show and follow us on social media with at the Heartland Pod and check out HeartlandPod.com. Click on that Patreon link to learn about becoming a member of our family of podheads and podgressives over there at heartlandpod.com or go directly to patreon.com slash heartland pod to get signed up today for extra access, extra shows, and more. We always, always, always want to say thank you to the folks who have signed up over there. It is a massive help. It's what makes it possible for us to do the amount of the shows that you're hearing because there is an expense to create all of this and we launched it all from the ground up. Nobody's made an actual dime off of this stuff. It's all been out of pocket costs to make it all work. When you sign up over there at our Patreon, what you're doing is you're making it so that A, we know that people that want this message, which is important, but B, you make it so that we can start to think about how to make the message grow. How do we make it bigger? Because that is how we invest back into what we're doing so that we can have all of the different shows and different channels and things like that. Part of that is moving Dirt Road Democrat onto its own solo channel, so you'll be hearing more about that. It's going to happen in July. It'll still be available now where you're originally finding it on this feed with these shows. But we're going to move it over to its own channel and talk with Jess about how she wants things to look on the other side as far as how many shows a week, basically how much are you going to hear from Jess. It's a good problem to have, which is we have a lot of interest. We have a lot of folks who want to talk. The election season is coming up and a lot of folks are listening and that's the bottom line. If you're listening to this, just know that you're standing in a very large group right now. It's a group that is not only large, but it's growing and it's growing at a good rate. We know that you are the reason for that. Keep spreading the word. Share the show with folks, put it into groups that you're in, texted to a friend, even if it's just one episode that you really like, just so they at least check it out and know it's there. Maybe it's their thing, maybe it's not, but we hope that we can continue to reach more folks as we get into 2024 and really, we've got a serious community here that's helping move the needle and truly helping to change the conversation on politics. At the very least at this point in the state of Missouri, if not in a bigger way, so thank you for all of your help and I'm going to have an opening statement for you and then we're going to get into the rest of the show, the talk on politics with Rachel, Sean and myself. She is the core. On June 8, 2023, former President Donald Trump was indicted on multiple counts, including some under the Espionage Act. By now, you certainly know that. In the last few days, we have seen a fast and furious political response from Trump supporters and Biden detractors who are trying their hardest to change the story and reality of the Trump indictment into a political opinion issue because they know, full well, that the real depth of this issue isn't political, it is legal. This is what the rule of law looks like. The American system, imperfect as all human creations are, functions best only when its application is truly blind.
