Immigration Document Delivery Accountability Act of 2025

R. 5979 To require that any document pertaining to the immigration status of an individual that, in the determination of the Secretary, is to be carried or delivered by mail, by the United States Postal Service, shall include a trackable accountability measure. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES November 7, 2025 Mr. Self introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, and in addition to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned _______________________________________________________________________ A BILL To require that any document pertaining to the immigration status of an individual that, in the determination of the Secretary, is to be carried or delivered by mail, by the United States Postal Service, shall include a trackable accountability measure. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Immigration Document Delivery Accountability Act of 2025''. SEC. 2. IN GENERAL. Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall, by rule, require that any document pertaining to the immigration status of an individual that, in the determination of the Secretary, is to be carried or delivered by mail, by the United States Postal Service, shall include a trackable accountability measure that is-- (1) a Postal Service barcode (or successive service or marking) that enables tracking of each individual document mailed.
