Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Veterans in Campus Safety Act''. SEC. 2. GRANT PROGRAM FOR UNIVERSITIES TO HIRE VETERANS AS CAMPUS SECURITY. (a) Definitions.--In this section: (1) Campus.--The term ``campus'' has the meaning given the term in section 485(f)(6)(A)(ii) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1092(f)(6)(A)(ii)). (2) Institution of higher education.--The term ``institution of higher education'' has the meaning given the term in section 102 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1002). (3) Secretary.--The term ``Secretary'' means the Secretary of Education. (4) Veteran.--The term ``veteran'' has the meaning given such term in section 101 of title 38, United States Code. (b) Authorization of Grant Program.--The Secretary shall award grants, on a competitive basis, to institutions of higher education to enable the institutions to hire veterans as campus security personnel. (c) Application.--An institution of hig
