Veterans in Campus Safety Act

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Veterans in Campus Safety Act''. SEC. 2. GRANT PROGRAM FOR UNIVERSITIES TO HIRE VETERANS AS CAMPUS SECURITY. (a) Definitions.--In this section: (1) Campus.--The term ``campus'' has the meaning given the term in section 485(f)(6)(A)(ii) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1092(f)(6)(A)(ii)). (2) Institution of higher education.--The term ``institution of higher education'' has the meaning given the term in section 102 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1002). (3) Secretary.--The term ``Secretary'' means the Secretary of Education. (4) Veteran.--The term ``veteran'' has the meaning given such term in section 101 of title 38, United States Code. (b) Authorization of Grant Program.--The Secretary shall award grants, on a competitive basis, to institutions of higher education to enable the institutions to hire veterans as campus security personnel.
