Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Funding Officers and Resources To Increase Facility Youth Protection Act'' or the ``FORTIFY Act''. SEC. 2. AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS UNDER MATCHING GRANT PROGRAM FOR SCHOOL SECURITY. (a) In General.--Section 2701 of part AA of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (34 U.S.C. 10551) is amended-- (1) in subsection (a)(1), by striking ``through (9)'' and inserting ``through (12)''; and (2) in subsection (b)-- (A) by redesignating paragraph (9) as paragraph (12); and (B) by inserting after paragraph (8) the following: ``(9) Hiring school resource officers (as such term is defined in section 1709). ``(10) Purchasing firearms and protective equipment for school resource officers. ``(11) Purchasing vehicles, including all terrain vehicles, golf carts, scooters, and bicycles, for use by school resource officers.''.
