Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Veterans Burial Allowance and Reimbursement Act of 2026''. SEC. 2. STANDARDIZATION OF CERTAIN BURIAL BENEFITS AVAILABLE UNDER LAWS ADMINISTERED BY THE SECRETARY OF VETERANS AFFAIRS. (a) In General.--Section 2303 of title 38, United States Code, is amended-- (1) by striking the heading and inserting ``Deceased veterans: burial and funeral expenses; plot allowance''; (2) in subsection (a)(2)-- (A) by striking ``who is not covered by section 2307 of this title and''; (B) by redesignating subparagraphs (A) through (C) as subparagraphs (B) through (D), respectively; and (C) by inserting before subparagraph (B), as so redesignated, the following new subparagraph: ``(A) The deceased veteran dies as a result of a service-connected disability or disabilities.''; and (3) in subsection (d), by striking ``subparagraph (B) or (C)'' and inserting ``subparagraph (C) or (D)''.
